About Lowedges Library

Lowedges Community Library occupies an upstairs room in the Lowedges Community Centre, courtesy of the LBJ Forum. The library is operated by the Friends of Greenhill Library, the group of volunteers who run the “parent” library in Greenhill. The library has a stock of over 1,000 books including children’s books, crime, thriller, biographies, and a selection of audio books.

Start up of the library was funded by an award from the Heritage Lottery Community Fund, which has paid to equip the library and fund a part-time paid worker (Lucy — see photo) who is tasked to establish the library and train a small staff of volunteers who it is hoped will take over the running of the library when Lucy’s term ends in September 2021.

Our first day of operation was Wednesday 12 Feb 2020. We currently open:

  • Mondays 9.30am — 12.30pm (awaiting confirmation)
  • Wednesdays 2.00pm — 5.00pm
  • Thursdays 10.00am — 1.00pm
