Having become ‘locked down’ to within a few miles of his Sheffield home, author Peter Machan spent a solitary year exploring the nearby Loxley Valley and discovered the surprising ‘Cabinet of Curiosities’ of diverse landscapes, historical characters, tragic and dramatic events, unusual occupations, perplexing ruins and unique folk tales and traditions that make this area so fascinating. Peter shows that, even on our own doorstep and within the boundary of one of the country’s major cities, there are worlds to explore and untold stories to tell.
