Notice of Annual General Meeting
The Friends of Greenhill Library AGM will be in Greenhill Library, Hemper Lane, Sheffield 8 on Wed. 24th October at 7.00 p.m. Anyone interested in the library is welcome to attend.
- 1. Welcome, introductions and apologies.
- 2. Minutes of the AGM held on 18th October 2017.
- 3. Presentation of the Annual Report.
- 4. Presentation of the Annual Accounts.
- 5. Election of Trustees. The Board must have between 4 and 12 members.
At this AGM Patrick Coghlan and David Wildgoose end the period for which they were elected. Patrick will seek re-election, but not as Chair. The other three trustees remain on the Board, having been elected last year, Chris Brown and Laurence Coates for three years, Richard Brown for two. The Board needs a Chair and Treasurer. The constitution does not specify that they should be appointed at the AGM. Sec 18 (2) says the trustees may appoint one of their number to chair their meetings, but the outgoing Board considers it preferable to have an AGM election. The constitution is silent about the post of Treasurer. David Wildgoose does not wish to be re-elected to the Board but is willing to be appointed by the Board to continue as Treasurer for now. The outgoing Board thinks we should have between 6 and 12 trustees, preferably representing all library activities. Nominees will be asked to say a few words about themselves and their wish to be trustees. Voting is by members only (volunteers and paid-up Friends) and is by show of hands unless the Chair or 10% of members demand a poll. Members unable to attend may obtain proxy votes from the secretary, Laurence Coates.
- 6. Vote of Thanks.
- 7. Any Other Business
(New Board to meet briefly after the meeting).
