“A Year with the Chain Gang”

Sioned-Mair Richard was Lord Mayor of Sheffield from May 2022 to May 2023 which she describes as “a huge privilege”. She was an ardent supporter of our library and visited us several times. In this talk, she describes her experience of  “a year of contrasts from the Cutler’s feast to giant slides in Norfolk Park. Finding parts of Sheffield you didn’t know existed and then back down to earth with a bump!”

“The history of Sheffield’s Water Supply”

Dr Jenny Stephenson will talk about the turbulent history of our water supplies, waste solutions and various troubles in the pipeline, her emphasis being the effect on health. Her book on the topic will be available to buy for £10 and all proceeds go to charity.
