Status Update

Status update 19 September 2021

Our opening times are:

  • Mondays and Fridays: 10-12 and 2-4
  • Wednesdays: 2-4
  • Saturdays 10-12

We have removed our one-way system and social distancing zones. Our volunteers will continue to use face masks and we ask you to do the same. Please continue to use use hand sanitiser before handling books etc. We will be retaining the “sneeze screens” at the front desk. We have now restored the layout and seating in the children’s library back to normal and  hope to do the same in the adult library soon. Families are welcome to browse but we ask that children stay with their parents. If the children’s library is in danger of overcrowding you may be asked to wait.

Our library in Lowedges (relocated to what used to be the Terminus Café) is open Monday 10am-1pm and Wednesday 10am – 4pm. If you’re interested in volunteering to help here please email lucy@greenhill-library.org

Our coffee mornings are now back in the library on Thursdays. They run from 10.30 to 11.30  and offer free tea, coffee, biscuits, and conversation.

Thanks to all the gardeners, the visitors, and the kind weather that made our Open Gardens weekend such a success. We sold 308 tickets and raised £2,250! There are a few photos here.

Our 2021 scarecrow festival and competition ended on 21 August.  For a photo gallery of all the creations, check out our scarecrow page

We’re very pleased to announce our farmers’ and craft market on Sunday 26 Sept from 10am – 3pm. All stall holders will be outdoors (under gazebos); refreshments will be served indoors.  This is the first market we’ve held for quite a while so please come along and support the library and our local traders as we strive to get back to normal.

Our next cinema evening is on 22 October when we’ll be showing “Some Like it Hot”, the 1959 classic starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemon. This time we’ll be serving refreshments. Advance booking essential .. click here.

A good way to keep up to date with what’s going on is to subscribe to our monthly e-newsletter. More info here.
